Capital One US Credit-Card Delinquencies Rise In August

A continued increase in delinquencies for U.S. credit-card customers in August has been reported by Capital One Financial Corp. (COF), but charge-off levels eased from July.

In recent months the credit-card lender turned bank has been struggling with increasing credit concerns as the recession threatens its balance sheet. A glimpse of issuers’ potential losses has been given by the delinquencies and it has also showed that how much they may need to set aside in reserves.

However, last week it has been said by Citigroup Inc. (C) analysts that probably Capital One has seen the worst of credit-card charge-offs. Charge-offs are the loans that the lender doesn’t think it can collect but aren’t in default yet.
